Call me a ski bum. It would be fair. I came to Tahoe right out of college (as a Religion major no less!), started waiting tables to make it through the winter and had every intention of heading home come summertime to get a real job. That was almost 10 years ago.

Now, I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I still love winter in Tahoe – look for me in the trees on my snowboard when there’s powder or on my cross-country skis in the backcountry if it’s been a few days since the last storm. Summer is the reason I’m still here though. I’m a golfer, I love hanging out with friends on the lake, and I’ve hiked just about every trail in the Tahoe basin. I’m also an expert on the best places to get a cocktail with a view of the sunset.

My job is pretty ridiculous. I get to give people ideas on how to have fun in Lake Tahoe, especially at Sierra-at-Tahoe and Northstar Resorts. I must admit, I enjoy the way people’s jaws kind of drop when I tell them what I do.

So I guess you could say life is working out pretty well for me…

I moved to the Truckee-Tahoe area three years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area to escape city life and live in the place I had always loved to visit. When I used to visit the Tahoe area, it was always very hard to leave. It finally became time to make Tahoe “home.”

I’ve always believed timing was important, and as luck would have it, the time was right when I made the move. I’ve been working with Northstar and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resorts ever since. Okay, okay, I’ll admit it. I have my dream job. They actually pay me to publicize Northstar and Sierra and trying to convince people to come up and have fun with us in the mountains. Year-round. And, I get to work with incredibly smart, talented and passionate people to boot. Can’t beat it.

These days I enjoy hiking with my dog, snowboarding in the winter, and cycling, running, hiking, backpacking, boating and generally being outdoors all summer. Sometimes I still can’t believe I live here. I suppose I need a stack of postcards to send off. Someone pinch me. Ahhhh. This is the life…
